Sonya’s distinctive approach to live illustration is anchored in a deep background of formal artistic training, technical innovation, and spatial design. She holds an MA Fine Art (Distinction), alongside a degree in Art and Design-Theatre Set Design and Stop Frame Animation.

Expanding her mastery into advanced digital spaces, she completed rigorous postgraduate training at the industry-renowned Escape Studios, earning professional qualifications in both Maya 3D Animation and Maya for Games. To further bridge the gap between traditional artistry and future-facing technology, she also completed advanced studies in Artificial Intelligence at Oxford University. This rare, cross-disciplinary expertise—blending fine art discipline, digital 3D space, and cutting-edge technical insights—allows her to seamlessly integrate her live illustration activations into premium luxury retail spaces and digital event environments today.

Her early career was defined by large-scale creative direction, including designing extensive public art installations and coordinating community arts initiatives for major UK city councils. This rich legacy of production excellence laid the groundwork for the premium live illustrations she now creates for global fashion houses and elite private clients.

Performance Directorship & Elite Event Coordination

Between 2014 and 2019, Sonya brought her extensive background in theatrical design and live entertainment to the renowned agency Area 51, specializing in live performance directorship and high-profile talent coordination. Working in direct alignment with the project's artistic director, she focused strictly on orchestrating the live performance side of major international events, managing artist logistics, and directing high-tier client relations.

A definitive highlight of this era was her role directing the live entertainment footprint for Elon Musk’s private 48th birthday celebration. Collaborating closely with the artistic direction team to realize the creative vision—and working directly with Elon Musk’s family on the fine details of the evening—Sonya coordinated over 60 elite international performers flown in from around the globe, including bespoke acts from exclusive venues like The Box in Soho. Her role was pivotal in managing backstage operations, talent security protocols, and executing flawless performance cues for the VIP guests.

Her live performance management and talent coordination footprint spans other legendary entertainment milestones, including directing performer departments and complex artist logistics for the world-famous Glastonbury Festival. She also served as the lead Performance Coordinator for boxing champion Ricky Hatton’s landmark title anniversary celebration at Manchester’s iconic Victoria Warehouse, alongside executing ultra-exclusive live illustration and luxury entertainment packages for resorts in the Maldives.
