Artist Assistant Fee (+£200): Recommended for medium-to-large celebrations on standard packages to manage guest lists and queue flow. Included automatically in the Full Day Experience.
Post-Wedding Studio Work: Because time is dedicated entirely to live guest interaction on the day, any additional portraits requested post-event can be arranged as a separate commission with extra studio fees and additional postage.
Booking: A deposit and signed contract are required to officially secure your date in the calendar.

What is live wedding illustration?
Live wedding illustration is the creation of original artwork during the wedding itself, capturing guests, couples and special moments as they happen. My fashion-focused illustrations are created as a unique keepsake for guests to remember the celebration.
How does live wedding illustration work?
I can draw guests directly in front of me during the reception, capturing their faces, outfits and individual style. I can also work from photographs taken during the day, which is particularly useful during the wedding breakfast, as it allows me to continue creating illustrations while guests are dining.
What style of wedding illustration do you offer?
Watercolour paintings and mixed-media drawings are my most popular styles. I also offer digital live illustration using an iPad, particularly where a venue has restrictions on paints or where a digital experience is preferred.
Do you capture guests' outfits as well as their faces?
Yes. The guests' fashion and outfits are an important part of my wedding illustrations. The amount of the figure I can capture depends on the time available, with quicker portraits generally focusing on the face and upper body, while longer illustrations allow for more of the outfit and detail to be included.

Can you illustrate couples and groups?
Absolutely. Couples and groups can be illustrated together, although larger groups naturally take longer. Each person is drawn individually so that their character, appearance and clothing can be captured.
Can you draw children?
Absolutely. Children can be included in individual portraits, family groups or couples' illustrations. The approach can be adapted depending on their age and how long they are comfortable sitting for a portrait.
Can you illustrate the bride and groom?
Yes. I can create live illustrations of the bride and groom, either individually or together. For an especially detailed and considered portrait of the couple, I highly recommend a post-wedding studio commission using professional wedding photographs, allowing much more time for detail.

Timing & Guest Numbers
How long does each wedding portrait take?
A detailed three-quarter or full portrait generally takes around 8–10 minutes. Simpler illustrations can be completed more quickly by reducing the amount of detail, using a shorter crop, working without facial features, or using black and white rather than colour.
How many portraits can you complete per hour?
At approximately 10 minutes per portrait, I can create around 6 finished illustrations per hour. Where speed and guest numbers are the priority, simpler compositions can be used to increase the number of guests illustrated.
How many guests can you illustrate during a wedding?
This depends on the package you choose, the number of hours booked and the level of detail required. If guest numbers are a priority, please get in touch and I can recommend the most effective approach for your wedding.
When is the best time to have a live illustrator at a wedding?
The wedding reception is usually the most suitable time, particularly during the drinks reception or another period when guests are naturally mingling. Every wedding is different, so I can help you decide when live illustration will work best within your own schedule.
What happens if we have a large number of guests?
For larger guest lists, the best option may be to have multiple artists working together. We can also discuss ways of maximising the number of finished portraits by adjusting the level of detail or format.
The Artwork & Keepsakes
Do guests take their artwork home immediately?
Yes. Every finished piece is slipped into an individual protective sleeve and presented with an A4 strut mount so guests can safely carry and display their illustration.
Can guests request specific poses or outfits in their illustrations?
Yes. Guests are illustrated in the outfits they are wearing to the celebration, making each portrait a personalised fashion keepsake. Guests are usually happy to trust my artistic judgement when it comes to the most flattering pose and composition, but I can accommodate specific requests where time allows.
Can names and the wedding date be added to the illustrations?
Yes. Names and the wedding date can either be painted or written by hand, or printed onto the paper before the event. Additional charges may apply depending on the package and the extent of the personalisation required.
Can additional portraits be commissioned after the event?
Yes. Additional portraits can be commissioned from high-quality wedding photographs. For wedding guests, I offer a special post-event studio rate of £70 per couple or £50 per person, plus £15 postage per address (more for overseas). These are illustrated to the same size and standard as the live illustrations created on the day.
Can you draw guests who were not able to attend the wedding?
Yes. For non-attending subjects, standard studio commission prices apply, starting from £500 for an A4 commission. Special circumstances, such as key family members who were unable to attend, can be discussed directly.
VIP Guests & Family
How are VIP or priority guests managed during the event?
If you have a list of VIP or priority guests, a designated contact person can help manage them during the event. Alternatively, a guest assistant can be provided for an additional £200 to help ensure a seamless experience.
Can I reserve spaces for my family or priority guests?
Yes. Key family members and priority guests can be provided with an exclusive golden ticket to present at the workstation, ensuring they receive dedicated priority portraiture at their convenience.
What space and setup do you require on the day?
A compact table, two chairs and access to good lighting are all that are generally needed to set up the mobile illustration station. Ideally, the station should be positioned near the drinks reception or wedding breakfast so that guests can easily access it.
What are the environmental requirements for setting up on-site?
For temperatures below 18°C or in windy conditions, a sheltered indoor space is required. For outdoor events in the sun, a shaded area is needed to ensure the best experience for both the artist and guests.
Do you need access to electricity?
Not usually for traditional watercolour illustration. If you have selected digital illustrations with on-site printing, a power socket will be required for the printer.
Do you need Wi-Fi or an internet connection?
Wi-Fi is not essential for most digital iPad illustration, although it can be useful depending on the digital setup and venue. Traditional watercolour illustration does not require Wi-Fi.
Can you work at any wedding venue?
Most venues can accommodate live illustration, but some have restrictions on materials such as paints. Museums, galleries and certain historic venues may require artists to use dry media such as pens and pencils or digital iPad illustration instead. If you are unsure about your venue, please ask and I can advise you on the most suitable approach.
Does the all-day package include a break for the artist?
Yes. The extended Full Day Experience includes a 30-minute lunch break for the artist.

Are travel expenses included?
UK travel expenses are fully integrated into the Full Day Experience, while Essentials and Signature packages calculate travel based on your specific venue location.
Do you travel internationally for destination weddings?
Yes. Live fashion illustration is available for destination weddings and international luxury events worldwide, with travel and accommodation coordinated on a bespoke basis.
Can you provide additional artists for larger weddings?
Yes. With more than 25 years of experience in the industry and an established network of professional artists, I can work alongside additional illustrators for larger weddings. I can also recommend suitable artists depending on the scale, style and requirements of your event.
How many additional artists can you provide?
This depends on availability, budget and the requirements of the event. I have previously worked at events alongside seven other artists, so larger-scale illustration teams can be arranged where appropriate.

Dates for luxury weddings and private events are typically secured 6–12 months in advance, although short-notice availability can occasionally be accommodated.
